The authors studied: the orientation of elongated quartz grains, and intergranular fracture within grains, as well as the pore space in oriented thin sections of sandstones. The analysis of elongated quartz grains in the bedding plane showed three main types of preferred directions in quartz grain orientation along different axes in sandstone reservoirs. Obtained results allow identifying a variability of facies and dynamic depositional environment for Upper Jurassic sandstone formation.
