The Upper Jurassic Bazhenov bituminous strata are widespread here. The Bazhenov strata is perspective shale formation because it has the high quantity of organic carbon and considerable thickness. This region is the most interesting for exploration of shale oil. The object of research are located within the Koltogor-Urengoy paleorift and its fraiming structure. The reconstruction of the tectonic and thermal history of Bazhenov formation was done using a software suite for paleotemperature modeling. The key factor in the realization of oil generation potential of a source rock is its thermal history defining the starting time and the intensity of oil generation. The locations of Bazhenov oil generation are marked by geotemperature criteria. The conditional integral index R was calculated for assessing the density value of the generated Bazhenov oil which allows for cumulatively taking into account the geotemperature dynamics of the main oil generation zone of the source rocks. The high-prospects zones were allocated for exploration of shale oil. Koltogor-Urengoy paleorift zone which was completed activization 160-170 mln. years ago is not different by the reconstructed heat flow density and resource distribution density of Upper Jurassic shale oil. The comparison of highly prospective territories with actually established direct signs of oil-bearing Upper Jurassic source rocks are showed high reliability for zoning. The exploration of shale oil is still the actual problem in the Western Siberia.
