DEA is a linear programming-based technique for measuring the relative performance of organizational units where the presence of multiple inputs and outputs makes the comparison difficult. The paper presents the theoretical aspects of the DEA model. The subject of the study is the economic and mathematical model for assessing the efficiency of enterprises. The objects of research are enterprises for the distribution of gas fuel, both existing and bankrupt. The investigated enterprises are described by a set of input and output parameters. Financial indicators are taken as the input and output parameters. To achieve more accurate results, a modification of this method was performed in order that this relationship between financial indicators can be directly proportional. The selected DEA algorithm modification can be used for further investment and management decision-making process. Efficiency assessment is carried out for fuel and industrial enterprises for the period 2012–2016..
