200 1 _aOn the Observation of Slow Wave Processes in Deforming Rock Sample
_fL. B. Zuev [et al.]
320 _aReferences: p. 37-38 (27 tit.)
330 _aThe main goal of this investigation is the attempt to use the earlier developed autowave theory of plasticity to describe the rock deformation, i.e. silvinite, marble and sandstone. To visualize the localization patterns observed by mechanical testing a technique of double-exposure speckle-photography has been used. The development of localized plastic deformation has an autowave character. The autowaves resulting from the compressing process of the rock samples have propagation rates ~10-5…10-4 m/s close to the respective values obtained for slow S-waves, which propagate in the earth’s crust after earthquakes or mine shocks (0.3…3.0 k per year).
