330 _aThe structure and mechanical properties of alumina ceramic obtained by slip casting are studied. It has been shown that one can obtain alumina ceramics with two types of porous structure-uni- and bimodal with wide range of porosity 10-60%. For different sintering temperatures porosity decrease from 35 to 10% for samples with unimodal pore size distribution and from 55 to 36% for samples with bimodal pore size distribution. It was found that the average sizes of fine pores in a both pore structures are the same. It has been demonstrated that dependences of strength for tension and compression tests for different porous types are similar and allow creating materials for different applications with necessary mechanical properties and porosity.
